About Mack

Mack Gauthier is a theatre professional whose work spans multiple avenues. Currently she works as the Theatre Specialist for Mystic Seaport Museum writing, directing, managing, and rehearsing with casts of 20+ actors for the museum’s summer, Halloween, and holiday productions, including but not limited to What Lurks Beneath and Lantern Light Village. Mack holds a BFA in Design and Technical Theatre Production with a concentration in Sound Design from the University of Connecticut, and a minor in English.
An immense amount of work goes into the theatrical events at Mystic Seaport Museum, supported by a tight-knit group of individuals juggling multiple production timelines. Mack wears many hats, and if you asked her, she would say if her job were put into a traditional theatre space, she’d be doing as many as 5+ jobs!
When Mack is not on museum grounds, she works as the Technical Director for The Prout School in Rhode Island. There, she manages all technical aspects of the events held in the school’s theatre, from their fall play and spring musical to dance productions and band/choir concerts. She also teaches in an informal capacity, and works to train the next generation of backstage theatre professionals in aspects of stage management, sound and lighting design, scenic painting, and many other areas.
Between Mystic Seaport’s theatrical productions and The Prout’s School’s technical direction, you could find Mack a hundred feet in the air aboard the last wooden whaling ship in the world (the Charles W. Morgan) working as part of the Waterfront Demonstration Team at MSM, or quietly reading a book or working on her next novel (she’ll finish this one, promise!). Mack also enjoys blacksmithing, hiking, skiing, and too many other hobbies to list…
